The term equipment availability indicates the percentage of the planned production time in which a plant has actually produced. In principle, this is a target/actual comparison. Analogously for machines, we speak here of machine availability, which is the decisive key figure in machine and plant engineering and is used to compare the actual productive time of the machines.
